CURLY HAIR

I was given a curling iron from Irresistible Me called Ruby to do a product review. The wand has five different temperature settings and curled my hair very quickly with results that have lasted overnight. You can curl your hair manually as there is a small clip at the bottom or use the rotating option where it automatically curls for you. I am a big fan of this product and is a reasonable price for anyone needing a wand style curling iron. Find it here!

SIGNS OF SPRING

Shoes / Vintage, Jeans / Acne, Sweater / Acne, Jacket / Zara (similar here, Toteme)

Maybe its being a little optimistic but this weeks weather has me hopeful that Spring is right around the corner. Although its not the nicest looking outside while the snow melts, I can't say I am sad to see it go and to see the sun again. Canadian winters are usually long and harsh so when March comes around and the temperatures start to rise it is definitely welcomed by most people. This Zara coat I had altered and had the collar removed (it used to look like this). It suits my style much better now but I still have to find a button or closure to add to it.

NYFW

Photos from Vogue

Of course, my favourite show of New York fashion week for Fall 16 Ready to Wear was The Row. The minimalism and focus on luxurious fabrics is what really appeals to me and has me in awe every show.  With most of their looks being in a neutral palette, they have me wanting every single piece but inspiration will have to do for now. The Olsen twins have added shoes to the collection, which are mostly mules and loafers and just as lust worthy as the clothing. Find the rest of the collection here.

FLASHBACK FRIDAY

Dress / Toteme, Watch / Seiko, Bag / Zara, Sandals / Mango

I cannot wait until summer and warmer temperatures where I can walk around in sandals and a dress. This is usually the time of year start getting sick of the Canadian winter and am ready for summer. This Toteme dress is one of my favourites, its so comfortable and doesn't take any effort to wear, I especially love the fabric and high slits on each side.

COMING UP ROSES

The last couple of years I have tried to slowly change my beauty routine to a more natural one with simple ingredients and natural products. I have always struggled with my skin but noticed a definite improvement since making the change, especially since adding rose hip oil. This one is from Sukin, and I have tried a few other products since and have been really happy with the results. Rosewater from heritage is another favourite, it's made up of only water and roses and I use it as a toner and facial mist throughout the day. It has an amazing ability to soften and soothe my skin and reduce redness. I add witch hazel, lavender essential oil and tea tree oil to customize it for my needs.

SUNDAY RECIPE: VEGETARIAN CHILI

Ingredients:
3 carrots
3 celery
1 medium onion
4 garlic cloves
Large can crushed tomatoes
2 Tbsp tomato paste
Chopped mushrooms
1 red pepper
1 jalapeno
3/4 carton low sodium chicken stock
1 small can corn
1 can black beans
1 can kidney beans
Spices:
1/4 cup chilli powder
2 tsp cumin
1 tsp cayenne
2 tsp paprika
2 Bay leaves
2 Tbsp oregano
Basil and any other herbs you like

Chop onions and sauté until transparent. Add in chopped carrots, celery and garlic. Add chopped pepper, jalapeño and mushrooms. Stir in spices and cook until vegetables are soft. Add in stock, crushed tomatoes, beans, corn and tomato paste. Simmer for about half an hour.
Tip: scoop left over tomato paste and freeze into tablespoon portions so there is no waste.
Add salt and pepper as you go.
Top with cheese, Greek yogurt or sour cream, tortilla chips and cilantro.
This is an easy, healthy chili recipe I make quite often to have as a quick and healthy supper.

HAPPY FRIDAY

This photo is from a vacation I took last December to Arizona. It was taken on a road trip near Sedona and the scenery was too beautiful not stop, walk around and take a photo. I love it in Arizona, there is so much to do and see and it's close to a lot of different vacation spots, hopefully I will be back soon! More of my old photos here,  here and here. Happy Friday everybody, have a great weekend!

RECHARGE

After the holidays I find it more difficult than usual to get back into eating a normal, healthy and well balanced diet. Usually getting off track doesn't take a lot of commitment to regain focus and start to eat clean again but there is something about all of the Christmas food and the holidays that makes it especially difficult to start eating healthy again. Whenever I find it more difficult than usual I will do a juice cleanse, more of a smoothie cleanse I guess because I use whole fruits and vegetables and blend them rather than use a juicer. I find restricting my diet to this, or even partially this, for three to five days leaves less room for snacking and helps recharge and jumpstart my diet back to normal.

Green Juice: cucumber, spinach, whole lemon
Carrot: carrot, ginger, turmeric, black pepper (helps digest turmeric)
Spicy Tomato: tomato, parsley, cucumber, cayenne
Protein: plain yogurt, bananas, almonds, chocolate protein

EMBRIODERED BOMBER

Jacket / Zara

Recently embroidered bomber jackets seem to be everywhere in all different fabrics and colours.  I fell in love with them because of their uniqueness and sporty vibe and especially after seeing Kate Moss wear a pink one, here. I found this one at Zara and waited for the year end sale to purchase it which has sold out now but here is a great velvet option from Mango, and here are some that Who What Wear picked.
